Matcha Blends
Blending is the most crucial process in tea processing, as it involves identifying the different characteristics of tea leaves, such as their origin and variety, and using them to create matcha with a balanced flavor, aroma, and color.
Single-origin matcha can have a variety of characteristics, such as strong umami, good aroma, or good color. By blending different types of single-origin matcha, we can bring out the best qualities of each and create a new value.
Our blending technology also allows us to control the flavor of our matcha so that it remains the same from one harvest to the next.
At Matcha Direct, our Ceremonial Series is reliably supplied, allowing you to enjoy the same high-quality matcha throughout the year!

Single Origin Matcha
Single-origin Matcha is a type of tea made from the same cultivar of tea leaves, grown by the same producer, much like the coffee or black tea concept. Every tea field produces Matcha with distinct characteristics. You'll appreciate not only the variety in types but also the unique traits of the producer's dedication and the tea field's terroir.
Unlike blends, single-origin Matcha may not have the same flavor profile replicated in the following year's harvest, but this variability is part of the charm of single-origin. Matcha made from spring-harvested tea leaves will be added to the lineup gradually throughout June to July each year.
At Matcha Direct, we offer single-origin Matcha and cultivar-limited Matcha, starting from #100. These Matcha are typically limited to the specific year of production.
